Karmo, Australia’s largest car subscription platform, has partnered with AGL to drive its electric vehicle (EV) subscription fleet, expanding access to flexible EV options nationwide.
As part of the new agreement, Karmo will manage AGL’s existing EV subscription fleet and platform operations, helping customers transition to electric driving with greater ease and confidence.
The collaboration reflects growing demand for more flexible and accessible pathways to EV adoption, alongside rising customer interest in integrated energy solutions.
Karmo CEO and Co-Founder Nick Boucher said subscription models are reshaping how Australians access vehicles by offering flexibility, cost certainty and simplicity.
“Today marks another pivotal moment for Karmo as we officially announce our strategic partnership with AGL. Together, we are launching an innovative suite of personal and novated Electric Vehicle (EV) subscription plans designed to completely reshape how Australians access, drive, and integrate renewable mobility into their daily lives,” Mr Boucher said.
“We are particularly excited to be disrupting the novated lease space, in conjunction with Smart. For too long, salary packaging has meant strict multi-year financial lock-ins. Our new flexible novated subscription gives working Australians the maximum tax savings of a novated lease, but with the freedom to choose, drive, and swap the latest EVs as their lifestyle dictates. The road ahead is electric, and together with AGL, we are making it simpler and more affordable to get behind the wheel.”
The transition will see customers supported by Karmo’s national operational infrastructure, including customer service, fleet management and flexible vehicle options, as AGL continues to focus on delivering integrated solutions that support a lower-emissions future.
Through Karmo’s platform, subscribers benefit from a predictable fee that includes registration, servicing, maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance, with the ability to adapt vehicle choice as needs change.
The partnership also creates a foundation for future collaboration, particularly as technologies such as vehicle-to-grid (V2G) develop, allowing EVs to contribute to the energy system and deliver additional value to customers.
AGL Head of eMobility, Mabelle Reyes, said the partnership comes as interest in electrification and electric vehicles continues to accelerate across Australia.
“This builds on our existing EV offers and our broader strategy to electrify the way Australians live, move and work, whether through EV subscriptions, home charging, public kerbside charging or tailored energy plans like our EV Night Saver,” Ms Reyes said.
“Over the past year we’ve seen strong and sustained demand for home electrification technologies, including electric vehicles, because of structural factors like cost of living pressures, government incentives and a desire for greater control over household energy costs.”
“That momentum is flowing directly into eMobility, with more Australians actively exploring flexible ways to make the shift to electric vehicles.
“Uncertainty can be a natural barrier for people considering an electric vehicle, particularly when moving from petrol to electric, and that’s where EV subscriptions can play an important role.”
The partnership reflects the growing intersection between energy and mobility, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration as the market evolves.
